Bibliographical/Historical Notes

Simmons Mapping (UK) Limited, established in 1965, provided topographic and engineering survey services throughout the UK and Middle East. They acquired Aerofilms Limited in 1997, and in 2001 the two companies merged to create Simmons Aerofilms Limited. In 2005, Simmons Aerofilms was acquired by Blom ASA, a Norwegian-based geographical information and offshore technology company, subsequently becoming Blom Aerofilms / Blom UK.

Custodial History

The collection was purchased from Blom ASA by The Scran Trust in 2013 and placed under the management of NCAP in early 2014. In March 2016, the collection was gifted to NCAP.
