Biographical/Historical note
This series of sorties was undertaken to collect vertical aerial photography of Belgium. This photography was intended to assist in revising GSGS maps of the country in advance of an anticipated German advance through Belgium in 1940. This project was undertaken without the knowledge of the Belgian Government, who had refused overflight permission.
